- What is The Diplocat?
- The Diplocat is an AI-powered communication coach that helps you practice tough conversations. Type or speak what you'd say, choose a de-escalation level, and get suggestions for how to say it more effectively.
- Do I need an account?
- You can try the app anonymously with limited features. Creating a free account gives you conversation history and the ability to track your progress. Paid plans unlock additional features like longer practice time, more voices, and group conversations.
- What are the de-escalation levels?

- Polite: Warm and respectful — the default for everyday conversations
- Diplomatic: Measured and tactful — for sensitive situations
- Royal Court: Gracious and elegant — maximum diplomacy
Account & Subscription
- How do I manage my subscription?
- You can manage your subscription from the Profile section within the app, or through the platform where you originally subscribed (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play, or our web billing portal). To upgrade, downgrade, or cancel, visit your subscription settings on that platform.
- What happens to my data if I cancel?
- Your conversation history is retained according to your tier at the time (Free: 7 days, Basic: 90 days, Premium: unlimited). If you downgrade, your existing history remains accessible until the retention period for your new tier expires.
- How do I delete my account?
- You can delete your account and all associated data from the Profile section within the app. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Privacy & Safety
- Is my conversation data private?
- Yes. Your messages are processed by AI to generate suggestions but are not used for model training or shared with advertisers. Voice recordings are processed in real time and not stored after processing. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
- Is The Diplocat a substitute for therapy or counseling?
- No. The Diplocat is a communication practice tool, not a mental health service. It does not provide psychological, medical, or legal guidance. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact emergency services or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Troubleshooting
- Voice input isn't working
- Make sure you've granted microphone permissions to The Diplocat in your device settings (Settings > Privacy > Microphone). If the issue persists, try restarting the app.
- I'm not receiving audio playback
- Check that your device isn't in silent mode and that the volume is turned up. Audio playback requires an internet connection.
- The app is slow or unresponsive
- AI processing typically takes 1-3 seconds. If the app is consistently slow, check your internet connection and try closing and reopening the app. If the problem continues, contact us below.
